When Roger was a teenager he travelled from Rotherham to Uxbridge on a tandem bicycle with a friend and hired a rowing boat on the Thames. They managed to bump into another boat which caused a lady to be thrown out into the water. Roger being the perfect gentleman took off his trousers and jumped into the water to save her and landed on his feet, but was very surprised to find that the water only came up to his waist. The lady was saved.
